In accordance with the business strategy defined by the local breeder and Breeding Director/Coordinator and the Breeding Leadership Team, the Breeder defines and executes the breeding methodology for tomato in order to create innovative and competitive varieties for assigned target markets.
The breeder provides the company with new varieties in his/her target market segments by searching for the appropriate genetic resources and implementing the best technologies and methods available.
● Under the direction of the Breeding Coordinator/Regional Breeding Director, define the breeding strategy and develop a genetic improvement program to create new and original varieties in line with market needs.
● Sets up, coordinates and administers independent breeding program based on defined company objectives.
● Executes breeding objectives within a defined resource scope.
● Undertake objective phenotyping of genetic material placed in the different targeted markets and analyze results using statistical tools.
● Ensure the provision of uniform and stable basic seed.
● Remain abreast of pertinent scientific and technological developments and introduces innovation to breeding program where appropriate.
