Main Goal

As a Breeding Coordinator, in accordance with the business strategy of the Business Unit (BU) and your team of Breeders, you set up and deploy the breeding methodology for the indeterminate tomato for the EMEA zone in order to create competitive varieties for the assigned target markets.

Job description

As a Breeding Coordinator, in accordance with the business strategy of the Business Unit (BU) and your team of Breeders, you set up and deploy the breeding methodology for the indeterminate tomato for the EMEA zone in order to create competitive varieties for the assigned target markets.

 

Reporting to the EMEA Breeding Director, you:

  • Manage the EMEA strategy for your crops by following the company's R&D objectives:
    • You facilitate and coordinate the use of Germplasm, thanks to technologies & tools. You ensure the input of new approaches with the breeders.
    • You actively participate in the committees of the BU and the Group, for your crops.
    • You implement the intellectual property strategy
    • You lead the resource management and budget strategy for relevant programs.

 

  • Manage a team of 4 people, located in different countries:
    • You coordinate the implementation of programs on our network of R&D stations
    • You ensure solid connection between the top management & your team concerning technical progress, skills management, …
    • You support your team in their personal development.

 

  • Are responsible for your own breeding programs:
    • You ensure their implementation, develop the Germplasm and the parental lines
    • You optimize your breeding programs by using modern technologies and data analysis tools
    • You travel to strategic markets to evaluate/select trials
    • You develop and/or contribute to multidisciplinary projects in direct collaboration with Pre-Breeding, Marketing, Sales, Development, Research, Laboratory, Agronomics teams and support teams,
    • You develop and strengthen a range of products in line with market needs.

Profile

You hold a Masters Degree in Plant Breeding and have at least 10 years' experience in breeding, in particular with the supervision of a team.

You are attracted by new breeding technologies as well as by field work. Results-oriented, you contribute to the development of our varietal range, by joining our international breeding team.

Your interpersonal skills, your autonomy, as well as your ability to anticipate and lead will be your assets to carry out your missions and interact with diverse teams in an international and multi-site context. Your solid level of English will allow you to communicate efficiently with your interlocutors. You will be travelling 25% of your time. Spanish is a plus.
